The abstract can be found in the attached document.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n 16 November 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n ESR5 Md Golam Hafiz gave a presentation at the postgraduate forum organised by University of Leeds. The presentation is titled: BLS measurement technique and the effect of e-filed on interfacial magnetic -properties. This forum is an opportunity for research staff to exchange information and discuss postgraduate research issues.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n 10 September 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Beatrice Bednarz supervised an information booth at the Mainz Science Market and explained magnetic phenomena to children, teenagers, and all other interested passersby. Among other things, Beatrice illustrated magnetic field lines, explained how to measure the force of an electromagnet, and demonstrated, as an example of an application of magnetic sensors, a model of the elevator in the Taipei Tower.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n 03 August 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n ESR6 Adithya Rajan attended the 2nd China-Germany bilateral meeting on topological devices, 2D materials and the future of spintronics. The conference had talks on various aspects of 2D material growth, characterization, and application in technology from participants in China and Germany. There were also talks on new topological materials. This was followed by a poster presentation. Adithya presented his poster on his latest work titled \u201cRevealing the higher order spin nature of the Hall effect in noncollinear antiferromagnet Mn3Ni0.35Cu0.65N\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n 11 May 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n ESR4 Jintao Shuai visited the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo, China on 11 May 2023. During the visit, Jintao delivered an oral presentation titled “Local anisotropy control of Pt\/Co\/Ir thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by surface acoustic waves” to an audience consisting of PIs, post-docs, master students, and PhD students from the Advanced Carbon-based Films Research Group. In addition to the scientific talk, Jintao also provided insights into academic life in the UK and shared information about the Marie Curie ITN programme and the MagnEFi project. These seminars take place once a month, where interns, masters and PhD students (sometimes post-docs too) participate and they present their recent project progress. Five ESRs from each project gave presentations about their research projects and their experiences as Marie Curie fellows. The presentations were followed by a short Q&A session. The audience included professors from different fields, PhD students, master students, and bachelor students from different schools across the University. The event was also streamed on YouTube. Jintao gave a lightning talk and a poster at the conference sharing his latest research results on coercivity control of thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by surface acoustic waves. A programme of the event is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n May 12, 2021 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n ESR Jintao Shuai (Leeds) gave an online talk at the PG Forum at the University of Leeds on 12th<\/sup> May 2021. Jintao is trying to understand the interaction of surface acoustic waves (SAWs) and magnetic thin films. In his talk, he presented the audience with the background and current research progress of his project, which included the preparation of characterization of Pt\/Co and Pt\/CoFeB thin films, and the design and building of the SAW circuit. In addition, he demonstrated the influence of SAWs on magnetic thin films by simulation. Future plans were also introduced. This talk aroused the interest of the audience and in-depth discussions were carried out afterwards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n April 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n ESR Giovanni Masciocchi gave a presentation on what it is like to be a researcher at Liceo Statale “Enrico Fermi”, in Cant\u00f9, Italy. The goal of the presentation was to motivate students to choose a career as a researcher in applied sciences. Giovanni also illustrated his project and the Magnefi Network.
