Scientific project:

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated experimental physics candidate with extensive experimental drive and creativity to investigate electric field controlled magnetization coupling. This project will pave the way towards integrating E-controlled magnetism for future data storage and logic technologies.

We aim to achieve electric field control features in perpendicularly magnetized systems by manipulating spin-dependent quantum well states: the so-called RKKY interlayer exchange coupling. We will explore the possibility to carefully tune this interlayer exchange coupling using advanced multilayer engineering using direct gating and ionic liquids. We will study the complex magnetization switching behaviour of nano-magnetic devices under this combined mechanism.

The expected results include (I) develop engineered perpendicular devices with advanced control of anisotropy and interlayer exchange coupling, (II) proof-of-principle of E-control of interlayer coupling and (III) device implementation, optimization and switching of gated multi-layered structures.
